I cannot believe the first month of 2020 is already over. Where does the time go?! January for me was all about simple makeup since my goal was bringing my skin back to its happy place. For my January 2020 beauty favourites, I’ve rounded up my top 5 products that I reached for constantly. Keep on reading to find out which of the five was my most stand-out product this past month!

1. IT Cosmetics CC+ Oil Oil-Free Matte with SPF 40 (CAD 52)
I’ve raved about this CC cream many times on IG, but I haven’t talked much about it here. This provides a light-medium coverage that still allows the skin to peak through for a natural no-makeup look. This CC cream helps to control the oils on my t-zone without making my complexion look dull or flat. The pump applicator on this makes it so much more hygienic and easier to dispense the product. Best of all, this CC cream has an SPF of 40, so when I’m in a rush and forget to apply my sunscreen during my morning routine, I know that this has got me covered!
2. Good Molecules Silicone-Free Priming Moisturizer* (CAD 19)
This priming moisturizer is definitely a stand-out product for me for the month of January. Formulated without silicones, this primer smooths out my skin without all the pore-clogging ingredients that usually come with silicone-based primers. Furthermore, this formula hydrates my skin without making it oily or sticky, allowing for flawless foundation application. I 100% would recommend this primer to anyone and everyone.
3. Maybelline Fit Me Loose Finishing Powder (USD 7.99)
Let’s talk about an affordable loose powder that cannot be beat. The Maybelline Fit Me Loose Powder is by far my favourite drugstore setting powder (and one of my top favourite setting powders in general.) I love that there’s colour to it, so it adds extra coverage to my foundation. Since I have an oily t-zone, I always look for a powder that can keep me matte, but not look cakey, heavy, or chalkboard matte, and this one does it all. Best of all, there’s 0.7 oz of product, and it’s under $10 here in Canada (so it’d be even less expensive in the States!)
4. Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Sleeping Mask (CAD 59)
January was the month of taking care of my skin, but it was also the month of brutally cold weather here in Toronto. My skin had random dry patches, and nothing seemed to cure it but the Glow Recipe Avocado Sleep Mask. I use a dime-size amount on top of my nighttime skincare, and next morning, my skin is smooth and hydrated. For me, this mask is a bit greasy, which is why I only use it at night before I sleep. However, if you have dry skin, you might be able to get away with using this in the mornings as well. You can also get the mask in this cute little set with an adorable eye sleep mask!
5. Colourpop Lux Liquid Lip (USD 8)
My last favourite of January is the Colourpop Lux liquid lips. The formula of these lippies is super unique. It’s ultra lightweight and has a mousse-like texture. When applied to the lips, it gives them a diffused, blended-out, and natural look, perfect for everyday wear. I have heard complaints of this formula being too dry for some people. Personally, I don’t have any issues with dryness, but I do recommend exfoliating and hydrating the lips prior to application. With any lip product, if your lip is flaky and dry, the product will cling onto and emphasize the dry patches and lines, so it’s imperative you take care of your lips for a smooth and flawless application. The two shades I reached for a ton this month were Flynn (rosy plum) and Beast (medium pink nude).
That’s it for my January 2020 beauty favourites! Let me know down in the comments some of your favourites for the month of January!
I know avocado is really good for your skin but I have never heard of this avocado melt before! It seems like such a fascinating concept to try!
It’s absolutely fantastic for dry skin! So rich and hydrating 🥑
I have tried a few of the IT products so I would love to try the CC cream too.
Their CC cream is so good as a light everyday base! ❤️
Nice. I’m not sure why I have no beauty products. I’m good with petroleum jelly and gylcerin. Is it just me?
Glycerin is an amazing ingredient for the skin as it help hydrate and smooth the complexion! 💕
Love these beauty favorites! I am a big fan of IT cosmetics. I’m currently pregnant and my skin is very senstivie so I won’t be switching up my skincare routine anytime soon, but I’ll keep that in mind for after the baby arrives. One product I use daily from them is their goodbye under eye cream and i LOVE it! I recieved it as a sample literally like 2 years ago and that same bottle is just running out now! It’s amazing how long it’s lasted me. I only just got a replacement for it last week. It’s fabulous to brighten your under eye area!
Congratulations on your pregnancy! I’ve heard amazing things about their eye cream! ❤️
ah perfect timing! I was curious about it cosmetics and wanted to give it a try. I’m just not one to use too much of a base and I hear it’s good for that. Going to give it a try now!
The CC cream is a great product for those wanting a light and barely-there base. Definitely give it a try! 💕
